Master in Marine Biology
RELATION TO STRATEGIC GOALS/MISSION OF THE UNIVERSITY
The proposed MS Marine Biology program will not only increase the graduate offerings at Batangas State University, but it will also continue the mission of the University through the βdevelopment of productive citizens through innovative education, multidisciplinary research collaborations and community partnerships.β The expertise of the graduate students will highlight new discoveries through proper research and the disseminating of significant information through publication of journals that will help to fill the gaps in scientific knowledge. Due to the population of the alumni of BS Biology and practitioners of marine sciences it helps not only the institution but also the region of CALABARZON to uplift and showcase the field and profession. The MS Marine Biology program will assist BatStateU in carrying out its mission by providing a selected group of well-trained graduate students in the field of Marine Biology to solve societal issues and problems.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM
The general goal of the MS Marine Biology program deals with enlarging the participation of the equipped and knowledgeable personnel in careers of environmental protection and management of marine resources in the VIP. The program is also intended to help the students to prepare for professional growth in other professional areas such as industry and planning that requires training and learnings at the graduate level. In addition, this program also helps students who want to pursue in a Ph.D. degrees in Marine Biology or other related courses. Overall, MS Marine Biology has the following objectives: To grant the students to specialize to their field of expertise which is Marine Biology. To prepare the students in pursuin Ph.D. degrees in Marine Biology in other universities. To preprare the university to establish a Ph.D. program in Marine Biology. To train students in methods in research, theory-building, education and training, policy development and program planning and management related to marine resources To strengthen the Bachelor of Science in Biology in the university.
