The icon contains a fish in a downward direction with coral, seaweeds, and seagrass symbols on the dorsal and ventral sides that suggests deep research on coral, seaweeds, and seagrass.
The fish symbolizes the Verde Island Passage as the world’s center of the center of marine shore fish biodiversity and the site of the project.
The blue half-circle is an abstract form of a magnifying glass that symbolizes to examine further.
The five (5) blue dots are the 5 SUCs that are collaborating on the project. Two (2) on the left and two 2 on the right end of the magnifying glass and these are Mindoro State College of Agriculture, Oriental Mindoro State College, Marinduque State College, and Romblon State University. The fifth blue dot on the eye of the fish symbolizes Batangas State University who is spearheading the project.
The color schemes were patterned from the implementing agency – Batangas State University through Verde Island Passage Center for Oceanographic Research and Aquatic Life Sciences and from the funding agency – Department of Science and Technology through the Philippine Council on Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development.
